SAP is a government-approved system for assessing energy ratings in new buildings. It requires assessors to be authorized and registered with a certification authority. SAP ratings are used to produce a Predicted Energy Assessment and an On Construction Energy Performance Certificate. Building Regulations mandate submitting SAP calculations and Predicted EPCs for new dwellings before work begins.
